Within all of the possibilities that Torre del Mar offers you, and after having discovered the entire Comarca de Axarqui, you must take a walk along the Costa del Sol, a worldwide tourist destination only two hours away from Torre del Mar in Spain. From Malaga to Manilva there is a distance of about 100 kilometres. These 100 kilometres are golden from a tourism point of view, and include Malaga, the capital of the Costa del Sol. The city is home to the Picasso museum founded in his birthplace, and exhibiting many of the works of this seminal artist. In Malaga you can also enjoy a fascinating old town, museums, beaches and big shopping centres. Don’t miss the city's impressive cathedral!
Travel west from Malaga and you quickly come to Torremolinos, which has been an important reference point for tourism since the 1960s. After Torremolinos the next locality we come to is Benalmadena with its Buddhist temple and its Marina, one of the most prestigious installations of its kind in Andalusia.
Neighbouring Fuengirola is home to theme parks and a great Maritime Walk, and is full of vitality. Next we come to Marbella, considered by many to be the capital of the Costa del Sol. This is the most glamourous place on the coast- fun, luxury, yachts and fast cars are synonymous with this locality, in particular in Puerto Banus. In Puente Romano you will see many impressive mansions on your way to San Pedro de Alcantara, an area which grows larger by the minute.
The western part of the Costa del Sol is home to many localities which have enjoyed a significant rate of growth over recent years; places like Estepona, Casares and Manilva. The former has excellent hotel infrastructures, and receives more and more visitors each year. Casares and Manilva have also grown considerably lately, thanks to the excellent golf courses, and above all, like the rest of the Costa del Sol, the fantastic climate. |
